Composite energy ducted fan for electric aircraft

Professor Fang Chen, Peidong Tian and Huaxing Gou, Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Lithium batteries, fuel cells and supercapacitors share the load in one electric propulsion system. The team’s 250 kW test rig, with a 0.8 m ducted fan, has completed ground verification, with a nominal energy density of 550 Wh/kg.
