Innovators, Inventors and their inventions from around the world are set to go head to head for the coveted World Invention Award... Who are the delegates? Many visitors are looking out for emerging innovative products that may compliment their existing portfolio or grow an entirely new business in perhaps an unknown industry. Visitors comprise a combination including; general public, buyers, manufacturers, investors, inventors, agents, support services and the media. Is everyone eligible for the awards? Inventions, innovations, designs and new products are eligible to have their exhibits judged by a panel of leading experts in the field of industry, invention and innovation. A completed online application form must be made for each entry. Booking closes for pre-judging 14th September 2009, one month before the event opens. The awards are organised by the BIS, British Inventors Society Board. For award categories please see below. When and where will the awards ceremony take place? British Invention of the Year Awards Dinner National Dress or Black Tie, 7PM Friday 16th October 2009, PALM COURT, Alexandra Palace, London. Judging will take place from 14th September 2009 & re-commence 10AM Thursday 15th - Friday 16th October 2009 in the exhibition hall. PLEASE NOTE: Booking closes for pre-judging 14th September 2009, one month before the event opens, after this date no entries will be admitted into the awards. What are the dates for the 2010 10th Anniversary ? Wednesday 13th to Saturday 16th October 2010. Join us for the party! 10th Year Gala Celebration Ball, Entertainment, Awards and Fine Cuisine with a Silver Service delivery. Dance the night away to the sounds of the Big Band, from 7pm Friday 16th October - Alexandra Palace - London. Dress, Black Tie or National Costume. About the Semi Final Awards? The British Invention of the Year Judges will score the exhibits, Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals will be awarded to those who in the their opinion have reached the standard required. The Gold Silver and Bronze medal winners are narrowed down by score and deliberation for the GRAND FINAL. The 34 grand final winners, 5 outright winners and winner of the World Invention Award will be announced during the British Invention of the Year Awards Dinner on 16th October, PALM COURT, Alexandra Palace, London. Programme commences at 7pm. Dress; National Dress or Black Tie. Further awards are presented by a number of international participants. What are the Grand Final Award categories? Awards are given in 5 main categories - British Invention, International Invention, Innovation, Environment and Design. Plus, under 15's & under 18's - Young Innovator of the Year Awards. 2009 British Invention of the Year
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded in the Young Innovator of the Year under 18's & 15's Classes. Young innovators may apply by email to show@thebis.org for a grant to enter ideas into the competition. If accepted, a showcase presentation area will be provided together with a ticket to the British Invention of the Year Awards Dinner, 25 places are available. If I am exhibiting when can I set up my display? Build up: All exhibitors set up access times; from: 8am to 3:30pm on Wednesday 14th October 2009 3.30pm Clear and clean for 4pm open When can I remove my display? Break down: All exhibitors From: 5.30 pm to 8pm Saturday 17th 0ctober 2009. When is BIS 2010? BIS10 returns to celebrate it's 10th Anniversary OCTOBER 2010 Dates to be announced shortly.
